Description

Miller Fabrication Solutions Internal Weld Program for current employees

The Miller Welding program provides employees with training in MIG welding using steel, and typically lasts for 4 weeks.

Students start with planning and layout work, then progress to setting up and operating welding and cutting equipment. Emphasis is placed on safety as well as blueprint reading, properties of metal, metal identification, electrical principles, and welding symbols. Training in the planning, layout, forming, joining, and fabrication of various shapes is provided. Students are exposed to the use of specialized tools, including forming and shaping machines, drill presses, and metal cutting saws. Inspection and testing processes, as well as procedures, are also demonstrated and explained.  All participants start out in a utility role for 1-3 months to learn basic manufacturing functions before being admitted into the program.  Excellent attendance and a good attitude are required in order to attend our weld program.

Participants will work on various projects throughout the time they are enrolled in the Welding program. Projects may be completed for the internal school, other teachers, students, external customers, and others.

Program Layout:

Welders will spend part of their time training up in a utility or other role, working alone or as part of a team. Training will occur roughly 20 hours per week for four consecutive weeks. Participants normally work 40+ hours a week, and will work day shift during their training weeks.

Each of the foremen and trainers demand a high level of professionalism from all participants and employees. Once applicable candidates are hired, they are placed on an employee wait list.
