We are looking for a new Burn Table Operator!   • Perform material burning operations in accordance with drawing specifications or established practices
  • Turn on machine air, plasma air, oxygen and inert plasma gas valves and the air compressor
  • Set up Burn Table using nesting sheets, drawing and programs
  • Hone the machine and notify supervisor, if the machine fails to hone itself
  • Inspect electrodes used in the burning operation and replace as required (more sparks coming from the torches than slag coming from the cutting operation is an indication that the electrodes need to be replaced)
  • Locate and place material on the burn table using the appropriate lift devices
  • Monitor the burning process and adjust the torches as needed for unacceptable kerf, incomplete or incorrect burn patters
  • Adjust torches for proper depth or width of cut
  • Use Hardness tester to obtain and then record Material Hardness on nest sheets
  • Verify that tests are in the acceptable range (Supervisor will need to be notified if harness readings are outside the specified range)
  • Install, maintain, replace Burn Table Grates in accordance with WI-466
  • Clean, maintain, install all torches, electrodes used in the burning operations
  • Start, test and observe burning operation to make sure torches are working properly, adjust process as necessary
  • Proficiently uses inspection tools, records the measurements on inspection sheets and understands the implications surface conditions have on part quality and function as required
  • Installs replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance
  • Plan, layout and perform safely and efficiently, burn table bench operations required to build, fit or repair parts for burning equipment

  • Employee will request help (if needed) to do all work safely.

Personal Protection Equipment (As required in production area):

  1. Must wear safety glasses with side shields (ANSI Z87.1-1989.) 
  2. Must wear full face shield in addition to eye protection when using 4” or larger hand grinders
  3. Must wear steel-toed safety shoes (ANSI Z41-1991.)
  4. Must wear hearing protection
  5. Must wear required welding protective clothing and helmet.


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) to three (3) months related experience 
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Flexibility in working hours and responsibilities as required by workload and production needs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
