Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes by studying product design, researching equipment/tooling capabilities, reviewing manufacturing methods, and reviewing Miller Fabrication Solutions standard practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Read and understand part drawings and specifications.
  • Helps new product and/or process startups. This includes pre-planning for assembly fixtures/templates, creating CAD models/drawings, machine setups, and programs.
  • Work hand in hand within the work cell, with senior managers and the operators to schedule and flow product thru.
  • Produce production reports and present them to senior managers.
  • Working knowledge of engineering standard practices that include drawing layout and GD&T.
  • Assures product and process quality, involved with resolving quality issues.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; attending manufacturing trade shows, conferences, and seminars.
  • Utilizes various software programs for daily job functions.
  • Interfaces with customers when developing new manufacturing processes.
  • Interacts with personnel from other departments to ensure company goals and customer expectations are attained.
  • Develops and implements Continual Improvement projects.
  • Contributes to 5S and Lean Manufacturing projects and is an active participant in meeting the objectives of these projects.
  • Adhere to Miller Fabrication Solutions' safety mission, mission statement, quality objectives, and environment objectives.
  • Propose new manufacturing methods to improve Miller Fabrication Solutions.
  • Desire to learn about all aspects of the company, including research, structure, and future direction of the core business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Employee will give full attention to all tasks.
  • Employee must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when in the production area as required.
  • Employee will follow all safety policies/practices/guidelines and will ensure all safety requirements are met or exceeded when performing all tasks.
  • Employee will work to identify hazards and unusual circumstances and will assist in the continual improvement of safety practices and procedures.
  • Employee will participate in safety training programs.
  • Employee will ask questions, share and apply learning.
  • Employee will request help (if needed) to do all work safely.

Job Requirements
Education: 3 plus years related experience and/or training preferred.

Other abilities:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts and build formulas.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in a written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to prioritize within a fast-paced environment.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, databases, and Crystal Reports. Presenting Technical Information, CAD, CAD/CAM.
  • SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Ability to make effective and rational decisions within a very narrow timeframe.
  • Flexibility (including hours) and willingness to work in situations of flux.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the Company, including senior management, and possess professionalism.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership for wide-ranging responsibilities.
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Resourcefulness and ability to work proactively
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Strong computer and Internet research skills.
  • Keen sense of judgment and knowledge of the business.
