Job Summary

 

This position is responsible for the administration and coordination of the human resources function, working closely with Human Resources Manager. This position supports responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all areas.

 

Responsibilities

  • Recruits qualified applicants, conducting initial interviews, scheduling department interviews, pre-employment testing, conducting background checks, and processing new hire paperwork all in accordance with company policies and procedures while ensuring legal compliance.
  • Assists Human Resources Manager to resolve employee relation issues and conduct investigations.
  • Create and implement effective and efficient processes for new employees to become oriented, engaged, and successful in their first three months to a year.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and managing any risks to the organization from an HR perspective.
  • Provides guidance to supervisors/employees for FMLA and other various leaves.
  • Performs administrative duties within the department to assure all tasks are performed as needed and maintains HRIS.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvement.
  • Perform benefits administration.
  • Assist employees with questions on 401(k) matters including enrollment, plan program, contributions, etc.
  • Administer leave processes, such as FMLA and disability.
  • Maintain employee records.
  • Support the overall training programs offered to all employees. This includes skills training and development programs for all employees.
  • Monitor performance management and merit increase processes to ensure good feedback and fair treatment is given to all employees.
  • Monitor attendance program and ensure being followed.
  • Assist in employee relations, including employee complaints, management issues, conflict management and investigations.
  • Responsible for company recognition and reward programs that align with the goals and mission.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining job descriptions.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Continually works in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, use of computers and software, health and safety practices, refresher training, or any other specified area designated by management.
  • Assist with compliance of HIPAA requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining all files.

  • Employee must sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Employee must be able to read, see, hear, and speak English.
  • Position requires limited physical exertion. Incumbent will rarely be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, and larger amounts with assistance.
  • The work location includes a warehouse and fabrication shop setting, which will expose the employee to dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
  • Employee must wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, ear protection and steel-toed boots, and any other PPE as required in the production area. PPE will be provided by the company with the exception of steel-toed boots.
  • Employee will give full attention to all tasks.
  • Employee will follow all safety policies/practices/guidelines and will ensure all safety requirements are met or exceeded when performing all tasks.
  • Employee will work to identify hazards and unusual circumstances and will assist in the continual improvement of safety practices and procedures.
  • Employee will participate in safety training programs.
  • Employee will ask questions, share and apply learning.
  • Employee will request help (if needed) to do all work safely.

 

Job Requirements

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
