Job Summary
Conduct/supervise all accounting aspects of Miller Fabrication Solutions and other related business entities. Ensure compliance with GAAP and all other regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare and report accurate and timely fit-for-use financial information (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow projections, budgets, and others) as required by the owners, shareholders, management team,    and financial institutions.
  • Manage cash prudently and appropriately on a daily basis.
  • Conduct timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
  • Work with outside auditors to facilitate annual and other audits as needed.
  • Conduct a variety of financial/accounting analysis activities as required for providing business information.
  • Conduct/supervise payroll and benefits aspects of human resources.
  • Conduct/supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities in an accurate, timely, and compliant manner.
  • Work with suppliers on payable matters.
  • Work with customers to ensure timely cash collection.
  • Ensure that all supplier and customer invoices are processed accurately every day.
  • Conduct/supervise all accounting in accordance with all IRS, SEC, state, local, and other governing agencies relative to tax and other regulatory matters according to the most current codes, laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
  • Comply with all required financial and accounting policies, GAAP, SOX, and all other related practices and procedures across the corporation.
  • Keep all corporate insurance matters (liability, property, vehicle, and other) up-to-date and in effect.
  • Keep all licenses (business, vehicle, other) current and compliant.
  • Ensure that all government filings are completed accurately and on time (i.e.: 941 forms, 940 forms, 1120 annual tax, state and local taxes, and others).
  • Develop and maintain all accounting and financial aspects of IFS (chart of accounts, costing, invoicing, cash posting, end-of-month/year closing, related tables, and all other related activities) in terms of proper setup, transactions, data validity, and fit-for-use  reports.
  • Enable on-demand valid and up-to-date budget vs. actual information in IFS for all appropriate users.
  • Manage the fixed assets of the business in terms of value, depreciation, tracking, and disposition.
  • Perform costing analytics as needed (i.e.: actual vs. estimated job costs, obsolete/slow-moving inventory).
  • Work with banks to ensure strong relations and covenant conformity.
  • Ensure that all bank statements are reconciled monthly.
  • Ensure that all costing in IFS is transacting properly.
  • Participate heavily in the annual physical inventory.
  • Actively support and provide data as needed for all company performance metrics.
  • Pursue continuing education applicable to this position that will enhance Miller’s position in the global marketplace.
  • Ensure that mail is sent, picked-up, and distributed in a timely manner daily.
  • Participate in all formal business teams as required (S&OP, Budget, and others)
Note: The controller position at Miller is a combination of supervising others in accounting as required, and doing hands-on work as needed depending on the available departmental staff.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be honest, trustworthy, punctual, have organized work habits, and be committed to excellence.
  • Must have a 4-year accounting related college degree, with a CPA License preferred.
  • Must possess strong leadership qualities and supervision skills.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of current accounting principles and practices (GAAP, FASB, SOX).
  • Must have the ability to react to high pressure situations constructively.
  • Must have top level interpersonal skills to cooperatively work as a member of the Miller team.
  • Must be self-motivating, a self-starter, and willing to appropriately take action as needed.
  • Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must have the ability to work in an organized and timely manner.
  • Must have the ability to use Excel, Word, Outlook, e-mail, internet, ERP Systems (preferably IFS), and other software applications relevant to this position.
  • Must have suitable math, reasoning, problem solving, and decision making skills.
  • Must have knowledge of current tax regulations and pending changes.
  • Must have general knowledge of manufacturing.
