Description

This position is responsible for mixing paint, preparing surface of object to be painted, painting the object, and drying or baking paint on object.  Also includes presenting a professional appearance appropriate with your job responsibilities as well as presenting a professional attitude representing Miller Fabrication Solutions.

 

A major portion of this position (at least 50% of the job) requires the individual to maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that the individual gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Understanding of paint and materials used by Miller Fabrication Solutions
  • Reliable and dependable work ethics/attendance records.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent – Preferred

 

The below description is intended as an outline of the principal duties of the position; accordingly other and related duties are performed as assigned or indicated.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Generate a culture that fosters continual improvement throughout the assigned site(s).
  • Follows safe work practices.
  • Computes paint mixture formulas.
  • Applies paint to object.
  • Inspects painted surfaces for paint coverage, flow of paint, and color quality.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Check equipment daily.
  • Load paint guns properly.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean.
  • Responsible for filling out proper inspection reports.

Safety and Workplace Organization Requirements

Must assure that proper guards are on machines. Must assure no body parts or articles of clothing are near anything that has potential to cause harm.  All safety rules, both written and verbal, must be followed.  Accidents involving injuries, property damage, and spills must be reported to supervisor immediately.  Near misses (close calls) must be reported as well. Workplace Organization standards must be maintained in all assigned areas.

 

Personal Protection Equipment  (As required in production area)

Must wear safety glasses with side shields (ANSI Z87.1-1989.) 

Must wear steel-toed safety shoes (ANSI Z41-1991.)

Must wear hearing protection

Respirator as required in designated areas

 

Training Needs

Job specific training requirements are listed on the Skills/Competency form and require employee and trainer sign off as training verification.
